MOCFA Exhibition Design

Sep - Nov. 2008

This is the first challenge for the exhibition design by the offer from Jennifer McCabe, the director of Museum of Craft and Folk Art (MOCFA). The title of the show is "The Shape Of Things". It exhibits the artworks using "paper" mainly from Asia in the traditional and contemporary contexts. Jennifer and I had a couple of sessions to develop the concept and put it into the physical space layout that placed the traditional artworks in the center of the gallery and the contemporary ones around them. Two different contexts are to be merged by the infinite loop of the spatial layout that we could characterized the show with the art pieces.

At the entrance of the gallery, I designed "Vivid Bitmap of Hand Folded Origami" that visualized the concept of the connection between the tradition and contemporary. I also put some effort to make the unique labels for the artist names. Through the whole exhibition, I focused on the "shadow" of the art pieces to characterize "the shape" and the depth created by the paper materials.

Museum of Craft and Folk Art (MOCFA)のディレクターJennifer McCabeに依頼されてExhibitionデザインに初挑戦。Exhibitionのタイトルは「The Shape Of Things」つまり、モノのカタチ。
